The OLAS Extender can extend the tracking range of an OLAS tag by up to 25 feet in a linear direction. For example, if placed toward the bow of a vessel, it will increase the range by an additional 25 feet in all directions from its location. This extended coverage ensures that the system continues to monitor crew safety and tag presence effectively, even in larger or more complex vessels.
Typically, the Extender can be positioned 25 to 30 feet away from the main OLAS hub (whether it's the Guardian, Core, or N2K system) without losing connection. By strategically placing the Extender, you can optimize signal coverage across areas that would otherwise fall outside the OLAS system’s standard range, such as forward cabins or decks.
Extender Compatibility and Setup
The OLAS Extender can only be used with OLAS products like the Guardian, Core, or N2K. To add the Extender to your system, ensure your OLAS hub is updated with the latest firmware. The setup is simple, using the OLAS app, which allows for seamless integration and management of the Extender within your existing system.
Once connected, the Extender not only maintains the connection but can also work in tandem with another Extender to cover even more area on larger vessels, making it possible to connect up to two Extenders running on the latest firmware.
